Working closely with composers they have developed new singing techniques, and worked with micro tonality (tones between keys on a piano). (…) Along with for example Lasse Thoresen and Henrik Ødegaard, as we heard music of last Wednesday, Nordic Voices have identified natural uses and expression for the alternative techniques. They are sung with a surplus and a lightness that should be impossible for a singer ensemble. Singing in alternative totality is far more difficult for singers than for any other musicians because singers do not have keyboards or something similar to correlate tones, and with unusual harmonies help much to listen to his musicians. But Nordic Voices draws the contemporary works as they are, beautiful and evocative.
